Castiglione della Pescaia, Grosseto region of Tuscany

We were still expecting rolling hils and vineyards when we planned to head to Grosseto in Tuscany but thanks to Dyl who booked us into a guest house in Castiglione della Pescaia, we arrived to a very high dose of sunshine and spectacular beaches and a teeny little town with a big castle on the hill, simple as that! This was three nights of paradise and we had the most wonderful time ever!

The main beach strip.

Castle on the hill, we met an awesome guy one evening at a bar and turns out he lives in the castle!

Beach front

Cobble streets that lead up to the old town and the castle

Nonna!

Walking the streets at dusk

Entrance into the old town

View from the walls and outskirts of the castle

We were very jelly of the folks that still live within these old town walls, the little houses and bars were like something out of the film, 'Chocolate' except that this was in Italy..

My love on our night out in the old town, another magnifff restaurant!

Beach time!

Our guest house offered the use of these rad bicycles which we used all the time. Mine was a dreamy pastel Yellow and Dyls was black. There were a couple of falls (on my part only) but many laughs including from the locals.

The region was a combination of wetlands, beaches and forests..Pretty amazing.

Ridin through a local nature reserve

Back in the old town, more churches would you believe..

A simple little lunch on our balcony..

Dyl preparing some bar snacks with the lunch leftovers..

 Um.....ok!

Hows work?

Last night sundowners with a beautiful display from the elements...Paradiso!

Um....is it just me or does this guy bear a striking resemblance to Luigi from the Mario Brothers? I think he is Luigi...
